The effect of reading excercise combined with social skills training to the first grade children of elementary school with reading disorder

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of reading excercise combined with social skills training program to the children with reading disorder. Twelve children (7 males and 5 females selected from the 125 first grade children in a elementary school) improved significantly in areas of reading ability and self-rated prosocial behaviors after training program. According to parents or teacher¡¯s rating, their problem behavior scores decreased significantly, although scores were in normal range in areas of the subscale of internalization & externalization problems in K-CBCL. This study showed the effects of reading excercise combined with social skills training for RD children. Finally, limitations of this study related with small size of subjects and absence of control group and suggestions for future studies were discussed.
